Universally Designed or Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a concept or philosophy for designing and delivering products and services that are usable by people with the widest possible range of functional capabilities, which include products and services that are: (1) directly accessible, without requiring assist; and (2) interoperable with assistive technologies. Check out the UDL Info Sheet for more insight into the what and why of UDL.
Virtual UDL Classroom
Check out the following virtual example of a universally designed clasroom for ideas to improve equitable access to both the physical and learning space in your classroom. All of the items featured are available to borrow from the PATINS AT Lending Library.
Create a universally designed lesson plan from scratch with the UDL Lesson Plan Creator. It is designed to walk you through each step of the way. Two versions are available: one in which the form is broken down into multiple page sections and a second in which has been created as a one page form.
